Canora National Archery in the Schools Program on target at provincials

The Canora National Archery in the Schools Program (NASP) sent 64 Archers to compete in provincials in Melville on April 13. The archers did an excellent job representing their community, schools and themselves, said Rod Steciuk, coach.

The Canora National Archery in the Schools Program (NASP) sent 64 Archers to compete in provincials in Melville on April 13. 

The archers did an excellent job representing their community, schools and themselves, said Rod Steciuk, coach. 

The Grades 4 and 5 elementary division of Canora won the provincial silver medal.  The Grades 6 to 8 middle school division placed fourth, and the Grades 9 to 12 high school division won the provincial silver medal.

Two Canora archers won provincial individual medals. Felicity Mydonick shot a 281 and won a silver medal in the high school girls division, while Alden Baron also shot a 281 and won a silver medal in the high school boys division, said Steciuk.

A number of Canora archers achieved top-10 placings in their respective divisions. Cooper Kraynick shot a 251 and placed fourth in the elementary boys division and was the top Grade 4 shooter of the tournament. Makayla Heshka shot a 224 and placed ninth in the elementary girls division, said Steciuk.

Brendon Landstad shot a 272 and place fourth in the middle school boys division. Meadow Ostafie shot a 264, placing her ninth in the middle school girls division.

Grace Medvid shot a 266 and came in ninth in the high school girls division. Maxwell Mydonick shot a 277 and finished seventh in the high school boys division. Jacob Danyluk shot a 277 to take ninth place in the high school boys division.

Steciuk said the Canora Junior Elementary School and the Canora Composite School continue to benefit from NASP with the support of the Canora branch of the Saskatchewan Wildlife Federation and the River Ridge Wildlife Federation.
