The Canora Golf and Country Club held its annual meeting on April 18 at the golf course clubhouse.

Donna Rock, clubhouse manager, said the club is coming off a good 2017 season and is looking to build on that in new memberships and in general play.

Peter Stranko will continue as outside operations manager for 2018

Rock said the club has a full board heading into the new season.

Paul Borys is the new president, and Jenny Chambers will take over as the new treasurer. The new board members are Reg King and Ernie Gazdewich.

In the immediate future, Rock said the club is looking for volunteers to help prepare the course for the new season, including cleaning up debris from last fall’s wind storm and getting the course into playing shape.

Once the season starts, volunteer help will be needed for fundraising and running tournaments.

Rock said several traditions will be continued, including fun night on Tuesdays, men’s night on Thursdays and seniors club on Mondays and Wednesdays.

She said the goal is to have the course open for play by the first weekend in May, but like many things in Saskatchewan, it depends on the weather.
