The Canora Golf and Country Club kicked off its Canora in Bloom festivities by hosting its annual Hole in One Tournament on July.

The Canora Golf and Country Club kicked off its Canora in Bloom festivities by hosting its annual Hole in One Tournament on July.

The tournament was a huge success as all 72 spots were filled three weeks before tournament day, plus about a dozen on a waiting list, said Donna Rock, manager.

For the tournament, the tees were moved up to par three distance for each hole.

Winners of the $100 closest to the pin prizes were: Nathan Adelman, Jaime Johnston, Jodie Kowalyshyn, Brenden Halchyshak, Mitch Samuels, Dennis Brost, Steve Petrovich, Dr. Brent Dergousoff, Willie Reay and Don Probe.

鈥淯nfortunately none of the golfers were able to coax the ball into the cup on their first shot so none of the major prizes were won,鈥 said Rock.

Major prizes available included from $5,000 to $20,000 in cash and gift cards, a new car, and a choice between a quad or a snowmobile.

Rock stated that Pete Steranko and the grounds crew had the course in excellent shape.

鈥淥ut of town golfers have been saying that the Canora Golf and Country Club is in as nice or nicer condition than any other course in the Province,鈥 she said.
