Canora athletes excel at Showcase track-and-field meet

Athletes from Canora Composite School (CCS) produced “terrific results” at the Showcase track-and-field meet in Yorkton on June 13. Cindy Sznerch, teacher, said the CCS representatives did themselves proud, both on and off the track.

Cindy Sznerch, teacher, said the CCS representatives did themselves proud, both on and off the track.

“I am so proud of the students as athletes and as ambassadors for our community,” said Sznerch.  “They were such positive kids, cheering on other athletes from different schools.”

In the 4 x 100 metre relay, the CCS team captured the gold medal. Team members were Taye Shukin, Ava Love, Jessee Kopelchuk and Rhett Ludba.

In the girls events, Love won silver in the 100 metres and finished fourth in shot put. Sofia Tratch finished tenth in the 800 metres.

In the boys events, Shukin won silver in the 800 metres, bronze in the 100 metres and placed sixth in the shot put. Briel Beblow finished fourth in the shot put. Ludba placed fifth in the 100 metres, and eighth in the 800 metres and the long jump.
