The Bredenbury Tundra Junior C hockey club faced off against the Bredenbury Cougars senior team on Sunday afternoon in a fundraiser game to raise money for the Bredenbury rink.

The teams charged a small fee for admission, and 50/50 sales went towards their fundraising efforts.

There was a large turn out to watch the two local teams play in their first games of the season, all for a good cause.

Tundra president Emily Mac Neill said both teams were happy to find a way to give back to their home rink.聽

鈥淸We鈥檙e here] just to help with some of their additional expenses and bring costs down that they acquire throughout the year. Since both teams benefit from using the rink throughout the year, we wanted to make sure that both teams got the chance to give back,鈥 she said.聽

Mac Neill said there鈥檚 a part of the rink that needed to be replaced costing upwards of $8,000, so they are helping with those expenses.聽

The game came after a Tundra meet-and-greet, so the town of Bredenbury could meet their new junior hockey club, and young kids could hit the ice with the older players.

鈥淭hey had a blast,鈥 said Mac Neill. 鈥淚 think the kids on the ice maybe tired them out a bit, so if they lose tonight, that鈥檚 why.鈥
