A 21-6 win over the Canadians upped the Yorkton atom football team's record to 3-1 and gave the team its first ever win on home field.
Jason Boyda, head coach of the team said Century Field is their home and they fully intend on providing more wins as the season goes on.
"This is our first win on our home field. That's huge. Anytime we lace 'em up, we expect to win. This field is our house."
The team's were tied with a touchdown each going into the half time break, neither team was able to capitalize with the extra point so there were 6s on the scoreboard.
The visitors had one touchdown called back but the Gridders went up for good in the third quarter and added another touchdown at the end of the quarter.
Boyda noted that it was not an easy a win as the score may suggest.
"Hats off to the Canadians. They're good at tackling."
Yorkton was able to run the football well on Sunday and depending on the scores from around the rest of the RMFL Atom division, could see the team move up to a tie for second place.
There are 19 other teams in the Atom division.
The Cardinals and Ticats were seated in first and second place. Action this weekend brings the Gridders to Griffin North Liebel Field on Sept. 16.
