The track and field season is either long done or nowhere near starting.

Unless your name happens to be Preston Liebrecht.

Usually for high school students, track season starts up training in late April or early May.

Liebrecht recently returned from Edmonton where he competed against runners of all ages.

He also added yet another gold medal to his already impressive collection.

If he wins anymore gold, he is going to go colour blind.

Last season with Sacred Heart at the provincials, he took home at least one gold.

At East Central Districts, he totalled nearly four golds.

While attending the Golden Barrell meet held two weeks ago in Edmonton, he said he didn't know what to expect and definitely did not see a gold coming to him in the end.

"I was hoping for a top three," he said laughing when asked if he thought a gold medal was well within his reach.

His medal came after nine attempts of high jump.

He also did in front of a lot of people, more than what he had become used to.

He also jumped nine different times reaching distances anywhere from 165 to 190.

There were about 200 people there, which made it interesting, he said.

"There, there's big stands, you don't know if they're all watching you but..."

Liebrecht found out about the meet from his mom, who he said is supportive of his athletics. Edmonton was a good meet for him because it shows him where he stands up against people in another part of the country.

"It was a meet just to see where I'm at (in comparison). Just go and do my thing."
