The Canora Supers lost a tight road game against a tough Langenburg in 麻豆传媒AVeast Senior Baseball League (SESBL) action, but came back in a big way by taking both ends of a doubleheader against the Roblin Stars.

The Supers and the Stars met 鈥渋n the middle鈥 between Roblin and Canora on June 16 to bring some fast-paced baseball action to Kamsack.

Greg Andreychuk, Supers player/manager, said he and his team enjoyed playing in Kamsack.

鈥淭he diamonds here are in good shape, and we are pleased to showcase the game here today. It would be nice to see a Kamsack team in the future.鈥

Ian Quewezance, Kamsack native and Supers shortstop, is in his first season with the Supers.

The doubleheader was organized by Mark Griffitts, a member of the Roblin Stars who grew up and played minor ball in Kamsack, said Shanley Allard of Kamsack minor ball.

鈥淢ark hopes to make this an annual event,鈥 said Allard. 鈥淚t will be a great fundraiser for our minor ball program and a chance to watch some good baseball.鈥

The Supers received outstanding pitching on the day, with complete game efforts from the starting pitchers in both games, said Andreychuk.

The Supers banged out 16 hits and 15 runs, more than enough for starting pitcher Adam Korb to cruise his way to victory in game one, with a final score of 15 to 6. Korb gave up five hits and six walks while striking out three for the complete game win.

The game was tied 1 to 1 after the first inning before the Supers tacked on seven in the bottom of the second for some breathing room. Three runs in the third and four runs in the fourth was icing on the cake as everything seemed to go right for the pitching and the offense.

鈥淚an Quewezance flat out raked at the plate with four hits, six runs batted in (RBI) and two runs scored. Sean Kolodziejski had three hits, three runs, two stolen bases and two RBI鈥, said Andreychuk. 鈥淐hris Morrison made his Supers debut with two hits while Logan Parachoniak also had a pair of hits. Collecting one hit apiece were Phil Sobkow, Evan Rostotski, Clint Maduck, Jorden Cherewyk and Kholton Shewchuk.鈥

It was much of the same in the back half of the double header in Kamsack as Terry Cumming pitched another complete game victory. He gave up ten hits with five walks and five strikeouts on the afternoon.

He got off to a bit of a shaky start with four runs allowed in the first two innings but ultimately found his groove and had an outstanding game from that point on, said Andreychuk.

鈥淭he floodgates opened quickly in the top of the first inning as the Supers put up six runs highlighted by a Quewezance three-run double.鈥

Roblin closed the gap to 7 to 4 after two innings but the Supers gradually tacked on a couple runs here and there to win by a comfortable 12 to 5 margin for the doubleheader sweep.

Quewezance had another clutch game with a single, a double and four RBI. Andreychuk had two singles and an RBI. Also contributing one hit apiece were: Phil Sobkow, Chris Morrison, Kholton Shewchuk, Travis Mentanko, Clint Maduck and Jordan Biletsky. Biletsky made his first appearance as a Super in almost a decade.

On June 13 the Supers were in Langenburg to face the undefeated Legends. As always seems to happen, the Supers and the Legends had a game that came down to the last pitch as the Supers stranded the bases loaded in the seventh to fall 4 to 2, said Andreychuk.

Kholton Shewchuk got the nod on the pitcher鈥檚 mound for the Supers and was able to throw 86 pitches in five innings of work, allowing five hits and four runs (one earned) with three strikeouts to eventually take the loss. Dylan Toffan pitched a scoreless sixth.

The Legends scored three runs in the bottom of the fourth after an error and some timely hitting, which gave them a cushion. The Supers made another last inning rally but with bases loaded and two outs, Legends pitcher Evan Markham forced a pop out to the catcher to end the game.

The Supers had nine hits, with three apiece from Dylan Toffan and Ron Sopko. Jett Stechyshyn, Clint Maduck and Shewchuk each had one hit.

No matter when these teams meet it always comes down to the last inning or a key play. The fans in Langenburg were treated to a great game.

After the three games, the Supers record stands at seven wins and four losses on the season.
