No, that isn't a spelling error. It's walleyball, not volleyball, a sport that is essentially volleyball with a side of crazy in a racquetball court.
Yorkton's Adult Walleyball League is headed into their second year of fun and games.
The deadline to sign up for the league that runs from January to August is December 21. Anyone 19-years-old or older can sign up in teams or as free agents and will be randomly placed in a team with an opening.
Last year was a success, having eight teams sign up. But it seems this year will be even better with an estimated 16 clubs set to hit the walls.
"The sport is growing in Yorkton," says Amber Zaharia, Urban Youth Sport Coordinator. "It is a fun way to get exercise, make friends, and try something new."
Rather than hitting the less-than-appealing treadmill, walleyball seems to be a much better way to reach new-year weight-loss resolutions. Not to mention, with registration fees only being $200 per team, it's cheaper than buying a gym pass.
