The Calder Playschool has ended for another year. On Wed., May 4, 2011, the playschool students enjoyed the day with pizza, doing crafts and receiving their grad hats and diplomas.

The month community potluck supper was held on May 11 at the Hut with two dozen people in attendance. As Mother's Day had just passed, Eva Huber donated a basket of Avon products which was used as a door prize for all the ladies in attendance.

The Quad Derby and Trade Show took place at the rink on Sat., May 7 and was sponsored by the Bredenbury Lions Club and Minor Sports. There were approximately 130 machines that took part in the derby.

Remember the "Tea with Ruth Gabert" at Saltcoats and District Community Hall on Sun., May 15 from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. The monthly Pot Luck Noon Luncheon is Mon., May 16 at the Stirling Room.

Congratulations to Jackie Johnson who was presented the 2011 "John Currie Leadership Award" for $800 at SIAST in Regina.

Congratulations to Calvin Smith and Diane Yuzik of Melville on the birth of their son. Jazer Alexander Smith was born on March 28, 2011 at 7:48 p.m., at the Yorkton Regional Health Centre, weighing 7 lbs. 1 1/2 oz. and 20 inches long.

The monthly community birthday party was held at the hut on April 27. Best wishes go out to the only birthday celebrant present, Earle Moller. Earle celebrates his actual birthday on April 29. Everyone enjoyed the visiting and lovely lunch.

Laketown Leaders Annual Meeting is Thursday, May 5 at 10:00 a.m. in the Stirling room. An annual meeting is an open meeting and memberships may be taken out. Val Trowell welcomes a new grandson, Jonah, a son for Christina and Todd Knihnitski.

April Rohatensky of Calgary, along with Madison Rohatensky of Calgary, motored to Calder to bring Marie Rohatensky home. Marie Rohatensky had been spending the winter months with her children in Calgary and Kelowna, BC.
