YORKTON — A Yorkton man has been charged with luring a child in relation to an investigation through a popular online social media application.
RCMP say members of the Saskatchewan Internet Child Exploitation Unit executed a search warrant June 2 at a residence in Yorkton that was identified as the location where the offences were occurring. Several electronic devices were seized for further forensic analysis.
On that same day, Mitchell Paul Carpenter, 26, from Yorkton was arrested and charged. He was brought before a Justice of the Peace and released on numerous conditions.
The Saskatchewan ICE Unit is comprised of investigators from the RCMP, Regina Police Service, Saskatoon Police Service, and Prince Albert Police Service. Their mandate is to investigate crimes involving the abuse and/or exploitation of children on the internet.
