Western Weekend featured gymkhana events

The Etoimamie Valley Riders Club allowed avid horse riders to showcase their skills at various events during the gymkhana event which was part of the Preeceville Western Weekend July 16 and 17. Jen Hue was the announcer for the two-day event.

            Jen Hue was the announcer for the two-day event. Darlene Walker and Ronda Palaniuk helped to record the events. Other helpers throughout the weekend included:  Levi Young, Shauna Walters, Lisa Neilson, Levi Stolfus, Faith Stolfus, Vereena Primeau, Marlene Palaniuk, and Jacquie Olson.

            In the weepee barrel and poles event on Saturday, Maccoy Galloway of Swan River placed first and second (different horses) and Trey Harbarchuk of Benito won third place.

On Sunday, Galloway won first and second (different horses) and Keenan Walker of Preeceville won third.

            In the weepee games on Sunday, Keenan Walker won first; Trey Harbarchuk won second and Kaisley Harbarchuk of Benito won third.

Other riders in the weepee events included: Emma Young of Weekes and Maddy Pole of Preeceville.

            In the peewee barrels, poles and games events, Kreece Harbarchuk of Benito won first with Mercedes Solomond of Tisdale placing second.

In the junior barrels events on Saturday, Bev Burtnick of Tisdale won first; Chayanne Hue won second, and Brooke Boychuk, both of  Hudson Bay, won third.

On Sunday, Bev Burtnick won first; Brooke Boychuk won second and Chayanne Hue won third.

In the junior poles on Saturday, Taylor Gibson of Springside placed first; Rashae Hue of Hudson Bay placed second, and Brooke Boychuk placed third.

On Sunday, Mackenzie Hue of Hudson Bay won first; Rashue Hue won second, and Dakota Longman of Kelvington won third.

In the junior games on Saturday, Lexi Young of Preeceville won first; Dakota Longman won second, and McKenzie Hue won third.

On Sunday, McKenzie Hue won first and third (different horses) and Chayanne Hue won second.

Shelby Gibson of Springside was the only other competitor.

In the senior barrels events on Saturday, Jenna Solomond of Invermay placed first; Jodi Suchoplas of Benito placed second and third (different horses).

On Sunday, Jenna Solomond won first; Farrah Fogg of Sheho won second, and Blaze Peterson of Porcupine Plain won third.

In the senior poles, Saturday, Jodi Suchoplas won first; Jenna Solomond won second, and Blaze Peterson won third.

On Sunday, Jodi Suchoplas won first and third (different horse), and  Farrah Fogg won second.

In the senior games on Saturday, Jodi Suchoplas won first; Yvonne Young of Weekes won second, and Erin Schullman of Benito won third.

On Sunday, Jodi Suchoplas won first, second and third (different horses).

Other competitors were: Shelby Kovach of Hudson Bay; Roxanne Hue of Hudson Bay; Carmi Hrabarchuk of Porcupine Plain; Shane Solomond of Invermay; Jacki Ripa of Canora; Kally Braaten of Melfort; Tenille Bollman of Kelvington; Connie Althouse of Kelvington; Ronnie Prekaski of Lintlaw, Brent Walker of Preeceville, and Ashley Langevin of Swan River.
