STOCKHOLM - This spring, the Valley View Wildlife Federation provided every student from Kindergarten to Grade 9 in both Macdonald School and Grayson School their very own fishing rod.
As well, students that are home-schooled in Stockholm and Dubuc also received fishing rods.
On top of that, the organization is also giving a fishing rod to all of their youth members that are between Kindergarten to Grade 9.
In total, 200 fishing rods have been handed out.
Valley View hopes that by giving each student a fishing rod, it will spark their interest in the outdoors, and conservation, noted a release. The branch goal for 2023 is to get as many youth as possible active, and interested in the outdoors.
Established in 1980, the Valley View Wildlife Federation is a branch of the Saskatchewan Wildlife Federation, and are involved in community based environmental and conservation programs and projects in Stockholm, and surrounding area.
The VVWF is very active within their communities, and have helped fund some local projects in the area, such as:
-
Planned and built the new fish-filleting shack at Birds Point at Round Lake.
-
Helped fund the Fish in the Schools (FINS) Program at Macdonald School for two years in a row.
-
Donated to both Macdonald School and Town of Dubuc Playground Fundraisers.
-
Sponsored and bought a new 3D archery target for Langenburg Archery Club.
-
Donations to Habitat Trust Fund.
-
Donations to Saskatchewan Wildlife Federation’s Youth Conservation Camp.
-
Donations to Sask Conservation.
Did you know that your child can have their own Valley View Wildlife Special Youth membership for just $5? A family membership is just $35, continued the release.
