Falling on Valentine鈥檚 Day, the regular birthday social for members celebrating in January and February took on an added dimension at the Keen Age Centre.
聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Among the various other entertainment numbers, a skit called A Mock Wedding provided the crowd with a lot of hilarity. The couple getting married were Mike and Marie Waselyshen. The bridesmaid was Irene Homeniuk and the best man was Mike Zeeben. Playing the prents were Mary Prokopetz as the old father and Diane Manahan as the old mother vigorously protesting against the marriage of her daughter. Performing the ceremony was a preacher played by Harvey Messenger.
聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Fred Krukoff had the crowd laughing with a number of his stories.
聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Musical entertainment was provided by Peter Kobelka, John Dergousoff and Norm Werner. With 74 members and non-members in attendance, space was left open for dancing and quite a number participated.
聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Special guests was a group of Troyanda Ukrainian Dancers from Yorkon. Dressed in their elaborate costumes, there were solos and duets as well as the whole group dancing.
聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Eight local women, calling themselves Just Friends performed two pattern dances 鈥� The Barn Dance and Waltzing Through the Leaves.
聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Jean Zarazun, the program convenor, welcomed the guests and introduced the birthday celebrants. Birthday cakes were provided by: Irene Homeniuk, Mellvina Dergousoff, Margaret Adshead, Lucille Dergousoff, Doris Slugoski and Etta Fletcher. The birthday celebrants for January were: Walter Tratch, Etta Fletcher, Irene Homeniuk, Mellvina Dergousoff, Norman Werner, Pearl Lazaroff, Lucille Dergousoff, Grace Chase, Doris Slugoski and Mary Sushelnitsky. February birthday celebrants were: Willie Trakalo, Lillian Roe, George Johnson, Marie Waseyyshen, Vicky Demchuk and John Kalenchuk.
聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Lorraine Katelnikoff said Grace and a huge lunch was shared. Edith Kotzer was the photographer and Etta Fletcher was the greeter at the door.
聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 In the raffle draws made during lunch, Vivian Murphy of Yorkton won an afghan made and donated by Phyllis Peiper. A valentine basket donated by Edith Kotzer was won by Stella Diakow.
聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Jean Zarazun, who organized the entertainment for the afternoon, said everyone enjoyed the program.
