Town of Preeceville elects three new councillors

The Town of Preeceville residents elected three incumbents and three new councillors during the civic election held in Preeceville on October 26.

            The Town of Preeceville residents elected three incumbents and three new councillors during the civic election held in Preeceville on October 26.

            "There were two spoiled ballets and 407 voters that came out to cast their ballots," said Shirley Jackson, returning officer.

            Mayor Garth Harris was unopposed and will remain as mayor.

            The three incumbents who were re-elected to council are: Mark Bourassa, 293 votes; Darin Newton, 236 votes, and Johnny Petryshyn, 167 votes. The three newcomers to council are: Stacey Strykowski, 276 votes; Welma Bartel, 211 votes, and Sheldon Luciw, 179 votes.

            Other nominees were: Ralph Ager, 116 votes; Ed Balyski, 137 votes; Florian Balawyder, 156 votes; Allan Bodnar, 158 votes; Riley Erickson, 125 votes; Sheldon Nelson, 154 votes, and Jim Ward with 69 votes.

            Councillors will take the oath of office at the next regular meeting of council scheduled for November 17.
