The good tidings of hope

By Rev. Franklin Emereuwa St. Joseph’s Roman Catholic Church

A shoot will spring up from the stump of Jess. (Is.11:1)

As long as there is life, there is hope.

Life itself points towards hope for something, and hope in return brings back life.

The birth of a child is always a thing of joy to the family, community and society at large. This is so because it shows or is a sign of hope for continued human generation. It is hopeful that the child will have an input to improve the community or society.

The coming of Christ into the world in the form of a child is to bring hope and happiness to the people, who seem to have lost hope or given up because of various challenges. Just like a shoot springing up from the stump presumed dead.

This means that things can take a new or fresh form in our lives again. The child in us, our dreams, could be born anew and can grow to become better and mature. Christmas is a message of God that it is never too late to begin again. One can never be too old to be happy or pursue new dreams. You can never be too young to express happiness either. Joy is for all and has no boundaries. You can never be too sad to smile again.

Seeing a child wrapped in a manger will always awaken a person whose energy is almost spent, brighten a gloomy face and warm a cold heart.

This is what God brings to you every year through his Son in a manger at Christmas.

Bringing new hope in your family, your business, relationships and other aspirations, renewed energy and fortunes summarily put: “Good tidings.â€

This is why you have to at this time remember all around you both far and near extend this message of joy and good tidings to them to warm their hearts and bring back the child like hopes and dreams that will make them once more alive. Send out these warm regards so that the child will be born not in the manger now but in our lighted hearts. The joy we share brings out the best in us as well as in others.

I wish you and your loved ones and every family a merry Christmas and a prosperous new year.
