Numerous people from Canora and area came to the Canora Keen Age Centre on the afternoon of December 3 to enjoy the Christmas Tea. The Tea was the Centre’s contribution to the list of events which made the Canora Winter Lights Festival from November 29 to December 6.

A total of 77 persons attended the Christmas Tea on December 3 at the Canora Keen Age Society Centre.

It wasn’t the largest crowd that ever came to the tea, which is the Society’s annual contribution to the list of events that makes the Winter Lights Festival from November 29 to December 6, but participants kept coming from the time the doors opened at 1 p.m. until the event concluded at 4 p.m., said Edith Kotzer who worked the door.

There was a very nice selection of dainties and other baked goods available for the customers to enjoy, she said. Most of the members made their own contributions by bringing in trays of baked goods. There were even a number of members who were unable to attend, but still contributed to make sure there was a good selection of dainties.

There was a fair amount of goodies left over at the end, but a few customers purchased whole trays to take home, Kotzer said. The leftover trays will be kept for the Keen Age Society’s Christmas party on the afternoon of December 13. Plans are to begin the afternoon program with the singing of Christmas carols and then the food will be laid out for the main meal. This year, the food was supplied by Wong’s Café.
