Sturgis School staff recognized for dedicated service

Seven Sturgis Composite School staff members were recognized for their dedication, hard work and years of service in a special ceremony at the school on February 15.

聽 聽 聽 聽 聽 聽 Seven Sturgis Composite School staff members were recognized for their dedication, hard work and years of service in a special ceremony at the school on February 15.

聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Brad Cameron, principal, welcomed Mark Forsythe, Superintendent of Education, who brought greetings from the Good Spirit School Division (GSSD).

聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 "The GSSD employees are valued for their hard work and dedication to students鈥 success,鈥 Forsythe said. 鈥淭he Board of Education recognizes the amazing work employees are doing on a daily basis and acknowledges it is in the acts of kindness and the extra special personal touch for students that make our division extraordinary.鈥

聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Cameron presented staff with service awards. Craig Folk and Michael Andrusko each received a 15-year service award. Carla Olson received a 20-year award and Tara Romanchuk and Sheila Meroniuk each received a 10-year award.

聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Cecilia Sliva and Bev Kardynal each received a Good Spirit School Division Sea Star Award.

聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Sliva is a long-time educational assistant at the school.

"She does all of the things that are asked of her in the EA role at our school," said Cameron. "One of the little things that make a big difference to both students and staff is that she can always be counted on to say 鈥榞ood morning鈥 at the beginning of the day or 鈥榮ee you tomorrow鈥 at the end of the day.

鈥淪he goes above and beyond for the Sturgis Composite School," he said.

聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Bev Kardynal is also a long-time education assistant at the school. She has worked for many years at the previous Sturgis Elementary School and transferred to the Sturgis Composite School eight years ago, said Cameron.

聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 "Bev goes above and beyond at the Sturgis Composite School to make our school a better place for students. Whether working with a student, volunteering for any of the many tournaments or school activities," he said.

聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Both recipients bring a tremendous amount of commitment to the success of Sturgis Composite School. They both work tirelessly and diligently and go above and beyond in the multitude of things that they do for the students, staff and school, concluded Cameron.

聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 The parent support group supplied cookies to each student at the conclusion of the ceremony.
