The Sturgis Station House Museum hosted their annual wind-up that was highlighted with bread baked from an outdoor oven on August 28.

Patrons enjoyed a slice of bread followed by a smokie, salad and bean supper.

"Baking bread in a clay oven brings us great joy," said Cheryl Walker. "It is a dying art form that we got involved in at Lady Lake Jamboree over 8 years ago. It takes 6 hours to pre-heat the oven for the first time of being used. We can only do 15 loaves of bread at the same time and it approximately takes one hour to cook the bread," she said.

Hazel Urbanoski welcomed everyone to the annual event and spoke briefly on the year. "I want to thank all the dedicated hard working volunteers who helped  with the school move, yard work,  and Cheryl and Russell Walker for baking the bread we will enjoy today" she said. "We have had many changes that was highlighted with the move of the Brookview School onto the grounds of the museum.  I want to thank and acknowledge Sarah Brown, curator and Adam Wyonzek, and all the  board members. The museum markets are something new we have tried and had a slow season but we are looking forward to expanding and making improvements to the markets. We are also featuring  a cultural day on September 12," she said.

Entertainment was provided by Willie  and June Jakubowski, Ed  and Audrey Zubrowski, Stephanie Pristie and Phyllis Fleming.

Board members were, Myrtle Boychuk, chairperson; Verna Karypk, treasurer and Greta German and Barb Wagar  co-secretary. Other board members included, Karen Rose, Verna Melnychuk, Vern Poworoznyk, Kathy Brodie and Hazel Urbanoski.
