PREECEVILLE - The United Church in Preeceville hosted a spring is in the air fundraiser concert that raised awareness and funds for the Mission and Service program. There were numerous musical and theatrical performances that were enjoyed by many in attendance on May 8.
Sheila Klebeck was the mistress of ceremonies for the evening, welcoming everyone in attendance and speaking briefly about the Mission and Service program.
The performance portion was kicked off by Karolyn Kosheluk who contributed three musical selections on the piano. She was followed by Jeff Davis, accompanied by Kosheluk as he performed a few musical selections. Next, was Kelly Ivanochko who recited a comical theatre performance to Jack and the Bean Stock. She also recited another poem later in the program, The Voice in the Box. Samuel Korney performed two selections on the piano.
Jeff and Laura Davis performed numerous numbers that included singing and musical instruments. Tapawinashe Mugadzi performed a soulful Zimbabwe song. Sheila Ivanochko recited two poems. Jonah Christianson gave a resounding performance on the piano.
Stanley Prokulevich showcased his guitar talent. The Mugadzi family of David, Faithful and children, Tapawinashe, Tinashe and David Junior awed the audience with two very beautiful selections sung in the Zimbabwe language. Mitch Samuels performed on the guitar and Rhonda Cook and Jeannette Jaques concluded the performance with a duet.
Mission and Service is a United Church-based fund that enables people all over the world to live a more fulfilling life, stated Sheila Klebeck.
Unfortunately, many people daily suffer due to trauma of all kinds from natural disasters, to food insecurity, homelessness, and oppression. Mission and Service finds a way to offer assistance.
“The actual money partly comes from the United Church congregation. As people go to worship, they can choose to designate part of their donation to the M and S fund,” Klebeck concluded.
