Riders acknowledged during Etoimamie Valley Riders Club awards event at Sturgis READ Club

The Etoimamie Valley Riders Club acknowledged its riders during the annual banquet and awards night at the READ Club in Sturgis on November 25.

All weepee and peewee members of the Etoimamie Valley Riders Club received awards for participation.             The Etoimamie Valley Riders Club acknowledged its riders during the annual banquet and awards night at the READ Club in Sturgis on November 25.

            Lisa Neilson, club president, was mistress of ceremonies and introduced the event winners with acknowledgement to the sponsors.

            Presentations were made in various categories starting with the weepee barrels," said Ronda Palaniuk, club member.

            In the weepee category, in the event of barrel racing, Jade Beatty won first place and received hot rod cars, wagon wheels (chocolate treat) and horse cookies, sponsored by Tom and Shirley Babchishin. Jaxon Neilson and Duncan Hodgetts tied for second place with each rider receiving an orange halter sponsored by R &R Racing. Jessie Beatty won third place and received a toy tractor sponsored by Brent's Trucking.

            In the weepee pole category, Jade Beatty won first place and received horse toy figurines sponsored by R & M Arabs. Jesse Beatty won second place and received an orange halter sponsored by R & R Racing. Tristen Beatty won third place and won a toy tractor sponsored by Brent's Trucking.

            In the weepee games category, Tristen Beatty won first place and received hot rod cars, wagon wheels (chocolate treat) and horse cookies, sponsored by Tom and Shirley Babchishin. Jade Beatty won second place and received an orange halter sponsored by R & R Racing. Jesse Beatty won third and received a puzzle sponsored by Jacquie Olson.

            In the peewee barrel category, Alex Neilson won first place and received a hat sponsored  by Pattison Agricultural. Neilson also won first in the poles category and won a horse feed bucket sponsored by Peavy Mart. He also won first in the games category and received a salt and mineral feeder donated by Danny Palaniuk and a toy tractor donated by Brent's Trucking.

            In the junior barrel event and poles categories, Lexie Young won first place and received Mane and Tail horse shampoo and conditioner, horse treats and horse de-wormer donated by Ronda Palaniuk. Young also placed first in the games category and received a picture frame donated by Jacquie Olson.

            In the senior barrel category, Ronda Palaniuk won first place and received a Happy Tails tail bag, horse mane ties and a horse brush donated by Reiden Hodgettes. Jackie Ripa won second place and received a rubber feed tub and horse brush donated by Greg Peszko. Ronnie Prekaski won third place and received a water bottle sponsored by Pattison Agricultural.

            In the senior poles category, Palaniuk won first and received a rubber feed tub and horse tub donated by Greg Peszko. There was a tie for second place with Ronnie Prekaski and Jackie Ripa each receiving feed buckets donated by T&L Valley Farms.

            In the senior games, Ronda Palaniuk won first place and received a grooming kit donated by Jackie Ripa. Ronnie Prekaski won second place and received a feed bucket sponsored by Ripa. Ripa placed third and won a feed bucket donated by Jacquie Olson.

            The award for fastest barrel time of the year was presented to Lexie Young with a time of 17.421 seconds. The fastest pole bending time of the year was awarded to Ronda Palaniuk with a time of 26.116 seconds. Both Young and Palaniuk were awarded with gift baskets donated by Gateway Co-op.

            The high points award went to Ronda Palaniuk who received a horse travel kit donated by R&M Arabs.

            Marlene Palaniuk won the award for being the oldest active riding member of the club. She received a gift certificate donated by Marge Reynolds and family.        Reynolds was one of the founding members of the Etoimamie Valley Riders Club in the 1960s.

            Savannah Neilson won the raffle of a camping chair donated by Canadian Tire.

            All weepee and peewee club members received participation awards.
