Preeceville students raise awareness of Terry Fox Run

The Preeceville School and staff members joined together to raise awareness for cancer research and its funding at the school’s annual Terry Fox Run on September 28.

            The Preeceville School and staff members joined together to raise awareness for cancer research and its funding at the school’s annual Terry Fox Run on September 28.

            "We are proud to announce that the Preeceville School raised $5,293 for  the Terry Fox Foundation," said Sheila Klebeck, Student Representative Council teacher-advisor.

            In a student assembly on October 4 the top fundraisers were announced.

            Spencer King and Britney Vewchar, Student Representative Council members, made the presentations.

            Students who received a Terry Fox shirt for being the top fundraiser in each class were: Madsyn Pole, Kindergarten; Sarah Masko, grades 1-3; Zander Neitling, grades 4-6; Kiera Balyski, grades 7-9, and Sylvan Klebeck, grades 10-12.

            Other fundraisers, who brought in over $100 received a Terry Fox coupon for five meals at the school's servery, were Leah Thideman, Carsyn Galiz, Deagan Anaka, Paje Reynolds, Matthew Korney, Reily Turchinetz, Keane Balyski, Alicia Shuba, Mason Bilan and Mardy McLaughlin.

            The Kindergarten class raised a total of $582; Grade 1D class, $249.25; Grade 1C class, $458.50; Grade 2, $480; Grade 3, $392; Grade 4, $409.50; Grade 5, $1,345.55; Grade 6, $477; Grade 7, $457; Grade 8, $85; Grade 9, $20; Grade 10, $60.50 and Grade 11, $75.
