Preeceville School remembers fallen soldiers in Remembrance Day ceremony

The students and staff at the Preeceville School joined schools across the province in recognition of the tolls of war and the soldiers who fought for freedom with a Remembrance Day ceremony on November 10.

聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 The public was invited to join the school in the special service. Students and staff rose when the Preeceville Harvard Air Cadets, followed聽 by Legion members Jim Ward, Dan Rogowski, Larry Larrivee and Leon Sills,聽 followed the entrance of the colour party. Brittany Kashuba was mistress of ceremonies.

聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Lexie Young recited 鈥淲hy we wear聽 a poppy.鈥 Alexis Bodnar spoke about the act of remembrance and commitment to remember.

聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Jerry Lisitza played The Last Post followed by two minutes of silence and the Reville/Rouse.

聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Members of the SRC performed a candle-lighting ceremony dedicated as a tribute to the fallen soldiers and veterans. Each member recited a short verse as he or she lit a candle.

聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Laying a wreath during the service were: Corianne Metherell, Doug King, principal; Chris Balyski, GSSD board member, and Larry Larrivee, Legion member.

聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 The elementary school choir sang Remember Flanders Fields under the direction of Laura Chartrand.
