Preeceville School elementary students recognized

Students from grades 1 to 6 were acknowledged for their hard work and dedication throughout the school year during an awards program on June 27.

Awards for grades 1 to 3 featured courtesy, respect, co-operation, academic achievement, sportsmanship, soccer, reading books, citizenship, cross-country and best all-round students.

The program was emceed by Hannah Kidder and Katryna Englot. The entertainment portion featured performances by numerous students.

Piano performances were by Payton Sorgen and Kiera Balyski. Kent Scheller and Zachary Sorgen each performed a guitar solo. Hannah Kidder performed a saxophone solo. Emma Covlin performed a solo to Don't Worry Child.

Performing The Cup Song were Cassidy Paterson, Haley Payette and Hallie Petryshyn. Flute performances were by Matthew Korney and Jillian Newton. The grades 4 to 6 classes each performed with ukuleles, drums and voice.

In the Grade 1 class, King-David Shepherd won the most improved award and Minela Kovcic won the sportsmanship award. In the Grade 2 class, Saphira Anaka won the best all-round student award. In the Grade 3 class, students received awards for book club, soccer, courtesy, co-operation and respect and citizenship.

The grades 4 to 6 students received numerous awards for a variety of sports, band, oratory, sportsmanship, courtesy, co-operation and respect and track-and-field. In the Grade 4 class, Zander Neitling received the most improved student award.

In the Grade 5 class, Isaiah Maier received the cross-country award for being the most improved student and Zachary Sorgen received the dedicated and determined cross-country award. Konnor Nenson was named the most improved student.

In the Grade 6 class, Trever Geistlinger was named the most dedicated student in mixed curling, and Cindy Singkala received the award for being the most improved student.
