Preeceville School celebrates Education Week

During Education Week (October 16 to 27) students and staff at the Preeceville School were acknowledged for all their hard work. This year, the theme of Education Week focused on 鈥淐elebrating Today, Preparing for Tomorrow.

聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 鈥淭he week featured many activities that focused on the students and many opportunities they have at the school,鈥 said Kent Seerey, vice-principal.

聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 The week kicked off with a bus driver appreciation day that saw drivers being served coffee and muffins. It was followed by a session in which Kindergarten to Grade 6 students read to parents.

聽 聽 聽 聽 聽 聽 鈥淧arents were encouraged to come into the school to read with a group of students." said Seerey.

聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 On October 18, the school hosted a school-wide picnic with parents eating lunch with the students.

聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 The school hosted an open house on October 19 that showcased the different aspects of the school.

聽 聽 聽 聽 聽 聽 Laura Antonichuk had a booth with yearbooks for sale. Brittany Balawyder focused on the Student Representative Council. Laura Chartrand and Les DeRuiter had booths setup that focused on learning through games. Sarah DeRuiter focused on the Breakfast Cafe.

聽 聽 聽 聽 聽 聽 Bill Dodge and Doug King had a booth that focused on graduation plans, career guidance and the Fish in Schools program. Cary Franklin sold Panther school clothing.

聽 聽 聽 聽 聽 聽 Donna Hamilton and Allyson Rock聽 focused on graduation and gradation raffle tickets, while Leslea Hanson focused on magazine sales.

聽 聽 聽 聽 聽 聽 Tonilee Lario and Laura Sliva sold pizza by the slice, Arlene Prestie focused on mathletics and Kent Seerey discussed response to intervention.

聽 聽 聽 聽 聽 聽 Heidi Paterson focused on students as scientists, while the School Community Council had a booth promoting the council and Megan Morton and Erin Stolar showcased their classrooms.

聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 On October 20 the students enjoyed taking on the teachers in a fun game of dodgeball for elementary students and floor hockey for the high school students.

聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 The last day of Education Week had the staff serving muffins to students.
