The 150th Anniversary of Confederation is a truly special occasion for Canadians and for the past and present residents of Preeceville, (it is an opportunity) to connect with the past, celebrate our achievements and build future legacies,鈥 said Agnes Murrin, representative from Preeceville 150 committee.

鈥淚t is an opportunity to reflect on and deepen our sense of what it means to be a Canadian, a Saskatchewanite, and a present or past-resident of Preeceville and area,鈥 Murrin said.

The overriding theme to celebrate the 150th Anniversary of Confederation (Canada 150) is 鈥淪trong. Proud. Free,鈥 she said. 鈥淭his is a key milestone and provides us with an opportunity to celebrate and take pride in our community.鈥

The Preeceville 150 Anniversary committee is led by the Preeceville mayor with councillors who are organizing the Preeceville celebration that is scheduled to be held on the August long weekend (August 4, 5 and 6).

鈥淥ur goal is to have a great celebration and connect the past and present residents of Preeceville and area,鈥 Murrin said. 鈥淲e want everyone to be safe, enjoy the event that includes the people, visiting, food, parade and the town and take away good memories.鈥

The committee is made up of volunteers from various groups and organizations and meets monthly, she said. Anyone who wants to help on the planning or has any suggestions are asked to contact the Preeceville Town Office or Murrin.

The main committee focuses on the planning and the various groups and organizations focus on the actual events, she said. 鈥淭he more groups that are involved to help spread the work around, the more fun it will be for everyone.

鈥淎n event like this in our small town takes a lot of volunteers,鈥 she said. 鈥淭his is a community celebration.鈥

The committee has planned a three-day celebration. The tentative schedule features
