Preeceville and area residents continue their quest to save the Preeceville Hospital from having the doors if its emergency and acute care departments closed on June 1.

After the Sunrise Health Region announced that it will be temporarily closing the emergency and acute care at the Preeceville Hospital in a special meeting with town council on May 17, the residents were outraged, according to representatives of the community. They quickly gathered to form a petition and organized a charter bus which carried 56 passengers to the Legislature in Regina on May 25.

The protesters met with politicians and they voiced their concerns and frustrations with that closure.

The next step was to be an open public town meeting that was to have been held Monday at the Legion Hall. A private meeting was to be held with both Town of Preeceville and Town of Sturgis representatives and all the RMs that had helped with the fundraiser for the hospital on May 26.
