The Preeceville Museum will officially re-open for another season on May 28.

The Preeceville and District Heritage Museum is looking forward to another busy season.

鈥淲e will officially open on May 28 with our open house," said Agnes Murrin, president of the museum. "The public is welcome and we will be serving tea and coffee, and other goodies. The theme of this year鈥檚 open house is agriculture. We will have a new 鈥楯ohn Deere man鈥 on display in the agriculture theme room.

鈥淟ate last fall the museum was rewired as the previous wiring was old and brittle. Artifacts will be safe now and the board is fulfilling its mandate to protect and preserve our artifacts. The humming florescent lights have been replaced.

鈥淲e have expanded the fashion room to include one room for wedding dresses through the ages. Come and see if we have a dress for the year of your wedding,鈥 stated Murrin.

Other events that are planned for this year are: the third annual 50s evening June 29 on the museum parking lot and the annual chili and clay oven baked bread day at the museum July 11 as part of Old Home Week.

鈥淎s it is the time of spring cleaning and re-organizing, the museum would like to remind everyone that we are always looking for artifacts that help us display the history of Preeceville and District.

鈥淲e are looking for an old cash register for our old time General Store and any sports memorabilia from any sports teams of the area,鈥 said Murrin.

The museum is looking for volunteers to help run the museum. Those interested in volunteering and those with items to donate are asked to please contact Agnes Murrin.
