聽 聽 聽 聽 聽 聽 During the Christmas season many younger children may have a difficult time getting Mom and Dad that special gift for Christmas, but with a small denomination of money, children can make their purchases with no hassle with the Christmas gift shop just for children.
聽 聽 聽 聽 聽 聽 The idea of the gift shop was born when Linda Shewchuk of Preeceville decided that children needed an avenue to be able to shop hassle-free and with small sums of money.
聽 聽 聽 聽 聽 聽 鈥淚 gather donations through stores, community and friends,鈥� said Linda Shewchuk. 鈥淢y vision is to have the children play a role in the spirit of Christmas.
聽 聽 聽 聽 聽 聽 鈥淓xperience the opportunity of purchasing something special for mothers and fathers,鈥� she said. 鈥淭he store, called Good Tidings 4 U, will be held December 20 at the Preeceville School library.鈥�
聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Shewchuk鈥檚 vision since 2004 has been to enable the children to play a role in the spirit of Christmas.
聽 聽 聽 聽 聽 聽 鈥淕ood Tidings 4 U is about playing it forward and focusing more on the caring and sharing of the season and bringing joy into people鈥檚 lives,鈥� Shewchuk said. 鈥淏ringing back something so simple to do, but with a greater everlasting gift as having the kids and parents enjoy and experience a loving and giving Christmas.
聽 聽 聽 聽 聽 聽 鈥淭he store is in need of donations of any kind including any gift bags, small boxes, wrapping paper and ribbons,鈥� she said.
聽 聽 聽 聽 聽 聽 Shewchuk also asks that all parents and children remember on Christmas Day to set aside these items and bring them into school in the new year.
聽 聽 聽 聽 聽 聽 鈥淲e encourage everyone to participate by donating something. Even a cash donation is appreciated so Good Tidings 4 U can purchase gifts on your behalf. We are always in need of gift bags, boxes, wrapping paper, ribbons and cards,鈥� she said.
聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 鈥淚 count on everyone and the donations to keep this shopping experience alive and running every year,鈥� said Shewchuk. 鈥淚f you plan on having your children attend the store, please ensure that you are providing enough gifts for others to purchase as well.
聽 聽 聽 聽 聽 聽 鈥淚f you have nothing available, or time is a factor, a cash donation would be appreciated and a gift will be purchased on your behalf.鈥�
聽 聽 聽 聽 聽 聽 Some items for donation that would be suitable are boxed stationery, jewelry, perfume, dishcloths, dishtowels, pictures, nail polish, pen-and-pencil sets, books, ornaments, wallets, bubble bath, playing cards or games, caps, coffee mugs, chocolates, toques, calculators, cologne, manicure and pedicure sets and shaving kit items.
聽 聽 聽 聽 聽 聽 鈥淭hank you for helping me to bring smiles to children and their parents every year,鈥� she said. 鈥淢y volunteers help my dream of wanting to help kids enjoy and experience a loving, giving Christmas. It makes me happy to know that the children enjoy and look forward to 聽the event each year.鈥�
