Preeceville cadet leader receives special acknowledgment

聽 聽 聽 聽 聽 聽 Ian Abbott, civilian instructor, who is credited for having dedicated his life to helping and serving the Preeceville Harvard聽 606 Air Cadet squadron, was recently acknowledged with a Command Team Commendation award聽 from Capt. Ian Coupland, zone training officer from Yorkton, on November 2.

聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 "This award is presented to Ian Abbott in recognition of his outstanding leadership, unwavering dedication and commitment to the officer and cadets of the Regional Cadet Support Unit (Northwest) and the Canadian Cadet Organization," said Coupland.

聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 聽"After retiring from a career in the Canadian Armed Forces, Abbott joined the staff at 606 Harvard Royal Canadian Air Cadet Squadron as a civilian instructor where his grandson attends cadets,鈥 Coupland said. 鈥淗e has been instrumental in the success of the squadron by volunteering his time to take cadets on weekend exercises, fundraising, coaching volleyball and curling.

鈥淎bbott ensures that the cadets of the 606 squadron are receiving a fun and first-rate training program,鈥 he said. 鈥淗e brought great credit upon himself and the Canadian cadet organization and is most deserving of this recognition of his dedication to the cadet mission and vision.鈥

聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Prior to presenting the award Coupland was led by F/Sgt. Roberta Kaytor in an inspection of the squadron.
