ROSETOWN – RCMP have arrested two Alberta residents and investigating the theft of six new vehicles from a dealership in Rosetown Tuesday.
Lee Falsetta, 36, and Samantha Riggins, 34, both of Red Deer, Alta., were each charged and appear in Kindersley court June 22.
Rosetown RCMP say they got a call about a group of suspicious vehicles travelling close together on a grid road near Rosetown. They got a second call about a break and enter at a car dealership in Rosetown. Police determined that the six new vehicles were stolen between 5 a.m. and 6 a.m. Tuesday morning.
Police say the remaining vehicles travelled northwest at a high rate of speed and that a Ford 350, which was reported stolen in Rosetown June 19, was travelling with them.
A van was also stolen in Three Hills, Alta., earlier Tuesday and was located abandoned at the dealership.
Police recovered two vehicles abandoned in the Rosetown RCMP detachment area. Another vehicle was found abandoned near Luseland, Sask. Luseland Police Service helped locate a fourth vehicle was located and stopped nearby. Two occupants fled on foot but were apprehended shortly after. In the vehicle police found two illegally modified firearms, ammunition and a box of vehicle keys.
One vehicle was recovered in Red Deer by Red Deer RCMP. Police believe the remaining vehicles may be in Alberta.
“Early in this investigation, we alerted the public to report sightings and information through local media and a Saskatchewan Crime Watch Advisory,” said Rosetown RCMP’s Sgt. Jason Waldner. “We’d like to thank members of the public who reported information about suspicious vehicles in their area – it helped the investigation.
Saskatchewan RCMP’s Kindersley, Kerrobert, Biggar, Maidstone, Battleford and Cut Knife RCMP detachments and Roving Traffic Unit, Alberta RCMP’s Provost and Red Deer detachments and Luseland Police Service assisted in this investigation.
“This was an investigation that stretched across Saskatchewan and Alberta – there was excellent collaboration between of all of the police officers that assisted in this dynamic and multi-jurisdictional investigation,” added Waldner.
Saskatchewan and Alberta RCMP continue to investigate and are trying to locate the two outstanding vehicles, which are:
- a black 2022 Jeep Wrangler last seen with no license plate
- a grey 2019 Ford 350 with Saskatchewan license plate 287LLV.
