The Preeceville Panthers senior football team concluded the season at home with a huge win over Watson on October 23.
The Panthers roared onto the field and took control from the beginning, leading the scoring race the entire game and concluding with a 73-6 win, said Coach Jeremy Mattison.
聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 In the first quarter, Sean Paligan聽 and Noah Tonn each raced for the goal line to score two touchdowns. Watson answered back with one touchdown but Preeceville shut them down the rest of the game.
The second quarter was equal to the first with Dallas Papequash, Paligan, Tonn and Matthew Fenske each crossing the touchdown marker. In the third quarter, Paligan scored once more followed by touchdowns by Tonn and Spencer King. The final quarter saw Connor Novak, Hayden Strand and Papequash each scoring a touchdown to conclude the final game.
聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 This year, it has been a rebuilding season for the Panthers, said Mattison.
"We have faced many challenges that included a short bench, and being plagued with player illnesses,鈥� he said. 鈥淭he coaching staff members are very proud of聽 the young team that showed a never-quit attitude all season. We faced some bad losses this year but we learned as a team to overcome them and move forward 鈥� never giving up.
鈥淎ll the players worked hard all season and contributed a lot to a great season,鈥� Mattison said. 鈥淭here was a lot of pressure put on the team as the team has not been out of the playoffs in six years. We ended the season with a three-win, three-loss record. The next season looks more promising with eight Grade 12 students who have played ball with each other from a young age already signed up and ready to play. Their combined experiences should be a huge asset for a successful season."
聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 "The team wants to acknowledge the parents, fans, assistant coach Patrick Livingston for driving players to practices and games, Lisa Moekerk for her wisdom and experience by physically building up our team and the fan support throughout the season," said Mattison.
