Nursery School said to be a mix of fun and education

The Preeceville Nursery is gearing up for the beginning of the new school term and all the new faces showed up at a meet-and-greet evening on September 7.

鈥淲e will have four students in the three-year-old class with more scheduled to begin in January, said Lori Newton, the teacher. 鈥淚n the four-year-old class there will be eight students enrolled. Full-time and half-time enrolment are options."

The first day of classes was scheduled for Sepetmber 13 with classes being held every Tuesday and Thursday for both three-year and four-year-old students.

The school will be running three main fundraisers: Mom鈥檚 Pantry sales in September, a barbecue on September 23, and a bottle drive on October 21, said Rhea Pole, president. 鈥淲e are also in the beginning stages of planning a shopping spree raffle in conjunction with the Shop Easy store and a Christmas toy shopping fundraiser with Joey's Apparel in Yorkton, which will feature Melissa and Doug's toys from Joey's and other unique toys for Christmas time.鈥

聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 The school鈥檚 goal for the three-year-old class focuses on social interaction in a learning environment, sharing and respecting other children. The four-year-old class still focuses on the social aspect but it incorporates a lot more hands-on learning like shapes, ABCs, numbers, colours and preparation for Kindergarten with rules and assigned jobs,鈥 said Newton.

聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 At the end of every year, the school provides a wind-up for the students where certificates are awarded that note the achievements of the students. Throughout the year students are treated to an annual Christmas party with Santa Claus, a Valentine鈥檚 Day party and an Easter party. The children are also involved a gym day to help increase and prompt physical fitness in a fun environment, she said.

聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 The new executive and board includes: Pole, president; Lorissa Petra, vice-president; Crystal Draper, secretary, and Shantelle Descalchuk, treasurer. Board members are Brittany Halkyard, Calla Erickson and Bobbi-Ann Danielson.聽
