There were 430 tickets sold throughout the month of November for the opportunity to win a 90-second shopping spree at Shop Easy in Preeceville. The Preeceville Nursery School held the fundraiser.

The draw was made at Shop Easy on December 12with the grocery run being held on December 14, giving the winner a day to check out the store and plan his or her route, said Leslea Hanson, Nursery School committee member.

Rose Arneson was the grand prize winner. She had her son Tyson, designated as her proxy. Arneson鈥檚 daughter Larissa Petras purchased the ticket for her mother, so Rose was doubly surprised. Gwen Gregory won second prize, a $100 President鈥檚 Choice gift card, and Rod Penner won third prize, a $50 President鈥檚 Choice gift card.

鈥淭he night of the grocery grab, Rose and Tyson came in with family and friends to witness the spectacle and cheer them on,鈥 said Hanson.

Leslea Hanson, Shantelle Descalchuk and Lori Newton were in attendance on behalf of the Nursery School board to explain the rules and conduct the run. Darin Newton, owner of Shop Easy, also added an additional prize, a $50 PC gift card. If the card was found as Tyson was running, he would receive that prize in addition to his grocery total.

He tore down the fruit and vegetable aisle, aiming for the dairy section, and moved quickly to the coffee section. Halfway through the run, amidst calls of 鈥淕o, Uncle! Go!鈥 from his nieces, he jumped over to the frozen food aisle, grabbing a few items, and finally rounded the corner to detergent and dog food.

Everyone in attendance placed friendly guesses on the total value of his cart, and waited with bated breath as Newton rang everything through. The grand total of his run was $830.48, exceeding everyone鈥檚 expectations.聽
