STURGIS - The Town of Sturgis Recreation hosted a Spring into Summer with fun day and evening at the Sturgis Regional Park on June 21. The day featured many fun activities and was geared at celebrating National Indigenous People’s Day and the Sturgis community.

The Sturgis Composite School staff and students were invited to join in the fun as they learned about the Metis culture. A free barbecue lunch and supper was offered with bannock and bannock tacos. The Sturgis Metis were responsible for bringing in JJ Guy and Cathy Sproute who supplied the entertainment for the evening. Activities included, bouncy inflatables, a corn hole tournament, painting rocks, water sliding, learning to make a teepee and an informational session.

The corn hole tournament was a huge success and the Recreation Board and Metis 138 were appreciative of the community support.
