Two new teachers and one intern have joined the staff at the Preeceville School for the 2016-17 school year.

Allyson Rock, originally of Canora, has joined the staff at the Preeceville School. She received her bachelor of secondary education degree from the University of Regina. She is currently taking her master’s degree. Rock did her internship at Yorkton Regional High School, teaching grades 9 to 12. She continued her career at Dr. Brass School, teaching grades 7 and 8, filling-in for a maternity leave position. Rock taught at Pelly School, splitting her time between instructing grades 4 to 12 English and teaching grade 4 to 7.

At Preeceville School she will be responsible for splitting her time; half of her time she will be teaching social studies and the other half of her time will be spent teaching English 20 to Grade 11 students; psychology 20, live transitions, media studies 20 and art 10 to grades 10 to 12 students.

            She currently lives in Sturgis.

"I will be involved in senior girls volleyball and possibility with a few other sports," said Rock.

Alicia Longman of Nut Mountain has joined the staff in a permanent half-time position, teaching middle years art and resources. She attended the University of Brandon receiving her bachelor of arts degree, with a major in physiology and minor in English.  She also received her bachelor of education degree. Longman did her internship at Wavery Park in Brandon, Man., and Ukrainian, English and biology at Dauphin and at Kelvington Elementary School.

Longman's first teaching position was at Yellow Quill First Nation teaching senior art and science from 2013 to 2015. She also instructed resource and middle years health and English at Kelvington High School. She did a three-month term at Archerwill School, teaching a Grade 3 class.

In Preeceville she will be teaching art and resources on a permanent half-time basis with middle years students.

“I will be helping with the junior volleyball girls with the possibility of a few other things. My husband is involved in racing horses in the chuckwagon and chariot circuit so I don't have a lot of extra time, but we love it," she said.

Karly Cook, originally of Hazel Dell, will be receiving her internship in English at the Preeceville School under the direction of Leslea Hanson.  Cook is currently attending the University of Saskatchewan where she received her bachelor of arts degree. When her six-month internship is expired, she will be returning to the University to complete her education.

She will be living in Preeceville and helping with coaching some teams in the school.

“My passion is hockey," she said. "I played hockey with Yorkton,  with the Canora all-girls hockey teams and with the Lloydminster team where I was captain of the team for the last year I played with them.â€
