Mini-marathon races for miracle

The Sturgis Kinsmen miracle annual marathon was a combined effort of the Sturgis Composite School students, staff and Kinsmen members as they made their way back to Sturgis from Canora on February 28.

The Sturgis Kinsmen miracle annual marathon was a combined effort of the Sturgis Composite School students, staff and Kinsmen members as they made their way back to Sturgis from Canora on February 28.

"The Town of Canora was canvassed prior to the marathon," said Brad Cameron, principal. Along the highway the group had collected donations and pledges. The marathon raised a total of $2,530.

School students, Kinsmen members  and volunteer drivers who braved the cold to run from Canora to Sturgis raising funds along the way were: Jim Prekaski, Kylie Babiuk, Kent Hurlburt, Sierra Meroniuk, Daniel Wasylenchuk, Kale Musey, Jason Peterson, Jalen Bayer, Dean Serdachny, Garrett Bazuik, Keith Babiuk, Zane Bayer, Brad Cameron, Neil Christopherson, Bo Babiuk, Conrad Peterson, Audrey Vargas, Mikayla Gregory, Brett Smith, Danika Soltys, Chaz Jaeb, Shanae Olson, Mollie Jaeb, JR Puyos and Shae Peterson.

Sponsors for the marathon were: Crossroads Credit Union; Gateway Coop; The Fox-GX-94; Gabano's Pizza and Sportsfactor. Andy and Darlene Oystryk of Blue Spruce Ranch hosted a location for the group to have lunch.
