LINTLAW — There were only a handful of sleds that participated in the Lintlaw 75 Snowmobile derby held on March 2.
The lack of snow had forced many of the trails to be closed and snowmobilers held their own ride prior to the supper awards portion of the evening.
The day got underway with a pancake breakfast and 140 community members attending. There were 285 that attended the roast beef supper over and above the riders.
“It was great to have such wonderful community support and a great core of volunteers who even lent a hand with making perogies for the supper,” said Brooke Murray, club member.
The top three winning hands were as follows.
Tylor Markowski of Wadena sold the highest hand with Jen Markowski as the winner.
Karen Smith of Lintlaw sold the most hands, Alvena Oryszczyn of Lintlaw sold the second highest number of hands and was the most experienced women rider. Hunter Flowers of Lintlaw sold the third highest hand with Bruce Gibb and Leslie Holliday, both of Lintlaw, tying for third place for hand sold. Michael Holowalchuk of Lloydminister received the farthest away rider award. Otto Markowski of Margo won the oldest experienced male rider award and Christa Engdahl of Lintlaw won the rider only prize.
Ron George took home the 50/50 raffle prize of $4,700 and Alvin Jankowski of Nut Mountain won the basket of cheer .
