Lacrosse increasing in popularity

Athletes in the area hit the field with lacrosse season.

The Sturgis Lacrosse organization kicked off another season of lacrosse and held its first practice with over 60 players registered.

STURGIS - The Sturgis Lacrosse organization is happy to announce that another season of lacrosse has kicked off with its first practice held on April 29

“I am excited to announce that the snow is gone on the lacrosse field, and we will be beginning practice and we have 60 players registered to play.” said Kristen Peterson, Sturgis Lacrosse representative. Practice times are Mondays and Wednesdays at the Sturgis Composite School grounds on the lacrosse field. Players who are registered are from Sturgis, Preeceville, Canora, Yorkton, Norquay, Invermay and Langenburg.

The U7 and U9 teams are coached by Lisa Serdachny and Frazer Will with player helpers, Avyn Seerey, Darian Serdachny, Bracyn Konkel and Reein Godhe. The U11 team is coached by Conrad Peterson, Shae Peterson and James Johnson, and the U13 team is coached by Shae Peterson, Conrad Peterson with player helper Trae Peterson.

The U15, U17 and U20 teams are coached by Shae Peterson and Conrad Peterson.

“We have not set a festival yet but are looking at May 25 as a tentative date,” stated Kristen Peterson. “We will be attending a festival in Yorkton in June and Provincials for U11 up to U20 will be in the fall.”
