聽 聽 聽Since 1990, people across Canada have been crowding into churches and theatres to hear Charles Dickens鈥� timeless story read aloud over the holiday season. Produced in over 100 communities across Canada, A Christmas Carol raises money for local charities such as food banks, shelters, libraries and hospices.
聽 聽 聽鈥淧reeceville and District residents are invited to celebrate this festive season with Dickens Night,鈥� said Sheila Ivanochko, director. A dramatic reading of Dickens鈥� A Christmas Carol will be presented at Trinity United Church in Preeceville on November 27.
聽 聽 聽鈥淚n true Dickens鈥� fashion, all proceeds from a free-will offering will benefit the Filling the Gap Christmas hamper program, and the Family Resource Centre,鈥� she said.
聽 聽 聽鈥淟ast year was the first time we presented the CBC-endorsed dramatic reading in our community,鈥� said Ivanochko. 鈥淎nd it was such a success that Trinity United Church board felt it was worth producing again.
聽 聽 聽鈥淭he classic Christmas tale really gets everyone into the Christmas spirit and makes a significant difference for a local charity during this special time of the year.鈥�
聽 聽 聽The second annual production of A Christmas Carol features local readers (in period costume) and musical interludes, followed by socializing and refreshments.
