July 1 Parade Looking for Entries

Responses will determine if popular Canada Day event happens

Perhaps the most popular aspect of Outlook鈥檚 Canada Day celebrations in recent years has been the parade that makes its way through downtown and never fails to draw a large crowd.聽 Whether it鈥檚 the colorful and eye-grabbing participants, the smiles on kids鈥 faces as they race to the street for free treats, or the coming together of a community to enjoy something as a collective audience, the parade is undeniably a crowd favorite.

Now, organizers for the 2018 event are on the lookout for float entries.

All businesses, organizations and individuals are welcome to take part and let their imaginations run wild with their ideas.聽 Children who take part in the parade will receive a special treat bag, so the number of kids in any respective float or vehicle will need to be noted when registering.

Organizer Amber Turton says the committee would like to see a certain number of entries for this year鈥檚 parade.

鈥淚deally, we鈥檇 like to see at least 30 entries for a successful parade and if we get more than that, great!鈥 she said.聽 鈥淭he year before Canada 150 we had somewhere between 35-40, and we had a pretty respectable parade with that amount of participation.鈥

The deadline to reply and show interest in participating in the parade is June 15.聽 If you wish to take part, you鈥檙e asked to send an email to Amber at the following address:聽 [email protected].聽 Turton encourages people to let her know as soon as possible and not wait until the deadline nears, as the number of responses will gauge whether there is enough interest to hold a parade.
