Bredenbury will be the first stop in Saskatchewan on Canadian Pacific Railway's Holiday Train tour this Christmas.
The brightly colored train goes through Bredenbury every second year, stopping to provide entertainment and collect food and cash donations for the needy.
The Bredenbury stop is on Monday, December 5 at 11:30 am.
"Valdy is the big performer that's coming on the train," says Regan Rodgers of the Bredenbury Lights Committee. "And we are expecting a visit from Santa Claus."
Donations raised at the event will be presented immediately to the Yorkton Salvation Army. CPR will also be making a corporate donation to each local food bank along the way.
Other Saskatchewan stops for the train are Wynyard and Saskatoon on Monday, Regina and Moose Jaw on Tuesday, and Mortlach, Swift Current, and Maple Creek on Wednesday.
Bredenbury has another Christmas event planned this week. A carnival at the community rink on Thursday, December 1 from 5 to 8 pm will celebrate the illumination of the town's famous Christmas lights.
