Folk/roots entertainers stage Celtic concert in Preeceville

Concert seekers enjoyed the Celtic concert featuring the musical duo of Darrel and Saskia Delaronde, who perform as The Great Plains. The Trinity United Church in Preeceville sponsored the concert on September 30 to a packed house.

聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Though they now call Vancouver Island home, these gifted folk/roots song-crafters live mostly on the road, performing to an ever-widening fan base, according to their website. They are skilled and versatile musicians who are considered by their peers to be in the 鈥渏ourneyman鈥 class of their trade.聽
聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Saskia hails from The Netherlands and Darrel was born on the Great Plains, so prairie culture runs through their veins. Recently they spent four years living in Saskatchewan聽and it was a huge creative landscape for their song writing.

They write about Canadian life and culture, stories of Louis Riel, war brides, prairie towns, voyageurs and rodeos, all set to intriguing melodies and backed by some of Canada鈥檚 finest musicians, the website says.
聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 They have toured extensively across Canada and Europe and were awarded the monthly number one folk album in Holland. The duo was named the artist, album, and songwriter of the year from the Saskatchewan Country Music Association (SCMA), received the top five people鈥檚 choice award, and has enjoyed many years of airplay on the top indie folk/roots charts in Europe and Canada
