First Sturgis Christmas concert held in new school

The Sturgis Elementary students performed their first Christmas concert in the new Sturgis Composite School to a full gymnasium on December 14. Brad Cameron, principal, was the master of ceremonies for the evening.

The Sturgis Elementary students performed their first Christmas concert in the new Sturgis Composite School to a full gymnasium on December 14.

鈥淭he staff and students have been working hard and are pleased to bring you a little bit of Christmas,鈥 Cameron said.

Val Hallick was the pianist who accompanied the students in their musical performances.

The Kindergarten to Grade 5 choir kicked off the program with singing O Canada and Snowflakes.

The Kindergarten class performed Reindeer Pokey under the direction of Lisa Serdachny.

The grades 4 and 5 students performed 鈥Twas a Night Before Christmas.

The grades 3 and 4 students performed Little Drummer Boy, Joy to the World and Silent Night.

The Grade 1 students performed A Santa poem.

The Grade 10 drama class performed a skit of Santa's Snow Goat, written by Eden Antoniuk, who is a student at the Sturgis Composite School. In the skit, Santa Claus is faced with some problems at the North Pole when his snow goat runs away and causes all sorts of havoc with a family when he eats their Christmas tree. Santa's elf is sent on a mission to find the goat before Christmas is ruined.

Cast and characters were: Kale Museu, opening narrator; Katie Chernyk, skit narrator; Hannah Gerbrandt, Nova; Eden Antoniuk, Sage; Zanthany Olson, Santa; Tyrell Yagelniski, Father; Jewel Howard, Elf and Rayanne Westermann, the red-nosed snow goat. Back stage helpers were: Carter Masley, Kacie Meroniuk and Eliah Hort.

The Grade 5 band performed, Good King Wenceslas and Ode to Joy, under the direction of Nathan Seghers,

The Grade 2 class performed Go Tell it on the Mountain.

The Kindergarten and grades 1 and 2 students performed Jingle Bell Rock.

The students and staff concluded the program by singing We Wish You a Merry Christmas.聽 聽 聽 聽 聽 聽
