Filipino festival hosted in Preeceville

The Filipino community welcomed guests from across the local area to join them in a special celebration recognizing the Filipino traditions. The festival featured a feast at Annie Laurie Lake on August 13.

聽 聽 聽 聽 聽 聽 The Filipino community welcomed guests from across the local area to join them in a special celebration recognizing the Filipino traditions. The festival featured a feast at Annie Laurie Lake on August 13.

聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 鈥淲e have invited our Filipino community members from Invermay, Okla, Kelvington and Wynard to join us in this special day,鈥 said Filipina Pinaroc. 鈥淲e had expected 200 guests to join in the fun games and huge pig roast meal.

鈥淭he celebration featured volleyball games, raffles, kids games and bingo,鈥 she said. 鈥淲e also invited the public to join us in the celebration. It was a fun day.鈥

聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Nellie Knihniski, president, gave a brief welcome followed by Ariel Vargas鈥檚 acknowledgements.聽 Katrina Gatchalia spoke briefly on the meaning of the celebration. Rev. Marcin Meroniuk gave the blessing prior to the meal.

聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Committee members included Knihniski, Ariel Vargas, Filipina Pinaroc, Renelyn Roguel, Kervin Javelona, Boyet Anguluan and Rhea Parcon.
