Etoimamie Valley Riders Club featured gymkhana events

The Etoimamie Valley Riders Club allowed avid horse riders to showcase their skills at various events during the gymkhana event which was part of the Sturgis Sports and Rodeo weekend on June 24 and June 25.

            The Etoimamie Valley Riders Club allowed avid horse riders to showcase their skills at various events during the gymkhana event which was part of the Sturgis Sports and Rodeo weekend on June 24 and June 25.

            Bryce Young was the announcer for the two-day event. Darlene Walker recorded the events. There were four age groups which featured weepee, peewee, junior and senior competitors. Events held over the two days featured barrels, poles, keyhole and speed barrels.

            In the weepee barrel and poles event on Saturday and Sunday, Blake Hedin of St. Brieux won first and Kaisley Hrabarchuk of Benito, Man. won second. Third place was won by Ella Sywenky of Hudson Bay on Saturday and Jade Beatty of Sturgis on Sunday.

            In the weepee games on Saturday, Blake Hedin won first; Kaisley Hrabarchuk won second, and Ella Sywenky won third. On Sunday, Blake Hedin placed first; Sywenky placed second, and Aislyn Hedin placed third.

            Other riders in the weepee event included: Arianna Neilson of Preeceville; Jade and Tristen Beatty, both of Sturgis, and Jaxon Neilson of Preeceville.

            In the peewee barrels on Saturday, Quinn Longman of Kelvington won first, and Klai Longman of Kelvington won second and third (on a different horse). On Sunday, Kreece Hrabarchuk of Benito won first; Quinn Longman placed second, and Klai Longman placed third.

            In the peewee poles on Saturday, Kreece Hrabarchuk placed first; Klai Longman placed second, and Quinn Longman placed third. On Sunday, Hrabarchuk placed first; Quinn Longman placed second, and Wyatt Hue of Hudson Bay placed third.

            In the peewee games on Saturday, Hrabarchuk won first; Alex Neilson of Preeceville won second, and Trey Hrabarchuk of Benito, won third. On Sunday, Kreece Hrabarchuk placed first; Wyatt Hue placed second, and Austin Swenkey of Hudson Bay placed third.

            Raia Swenkey of Hudson Bay was the only other participant.

            In the junior barrels on Saturday, Dakota Longman of Kelvington placed first; Brooke Boychuk of Hudson Bay won second, and Lexi Young of Preeceville won third. On Sunday, Longman placed first; Young placed second, and Rashue Hue of Hudson Bay won third.

            In the junior poles event on Saturday, Lexi Young placed first; Brooke Boychuk placed second, and Dakota Longman placed third. On Sunday, Rashue Hue placed first and Mackenzie Hue of Hudson Bay placed second and third (on a different horse).

            In the junior games event on Saturday, Brooke Boychuk placed first; Lexi Young placed second, and Kelly Stuart of St. Brieux placed third. On Sunday, Rashue Hue placed first and Mackenzie Hue placed second and third (on a different horse).

            Other riders in junior event included Hunter Syenky of Hudson Bay.

            In the senior barrels event on Saturday, Twyla Salmond of Porcupine won first; Allison Hedin of St. Brieux won second, and Sydney Marchanty of Hudson Bay won third. On Sunday, Salmond won first; Jodi Suchoplas of Benito won second, and Hedin won third.

            In senior poles, Sydney Marchanty won first; Connie Althouse of Kelvington won second, and Allison Hedin won third. On Sunday, Jodi Suchoplas won first; Hedin won second, and Roxanne Hue won third.

            In the senior games on Saturday, Connie Althouse won first and Cody Graham of Hudson Bay won second. On Sunday, Jodi Suchoplas won first and second (on a different horse) and Roxanne Hue won third.

            Other riders in the senior event included: Yvonne Young of Weekes; Kendra Kvemshagen of Sheho; Tenille Bollman of Kelvington; Whitney Nepinak of Swan River and Ronda Palaniuk of Sturgis.
