DUBUC - Passing of Rodney Johnson

October has been a good month of celebrating birthdays at coffee row. Bun Flick treated everyone on Saturday morning by buying coffee and bringing some goodies for us to enjoy for her birthday.

October has been a good month of celebrating birthdays at coffee row. Bun Flick treated everyone on Saturday morning by buying coffee and bringing some goodies for us to enjoy for her birthday. We surely appreciate celebrating with you, Bun, and best wishes for a happy, healthy year ahead!

Our community was saddened to hear of the sudden passing of Rodney Johnson on Oct. 26. He was 71 years old. Rodney was the son of Edith Simle and Nels Johnson and was raised on the Simle farm south of Dubuc. Rodney lived and worked in Hay River, NWT, but he had visited frequently in recent years as his mothers' health failed, and renewed old acquaintances around town. We will miss him. Sympathy is extended to his brother, Murray Simle and family of Dubuc, as well as his sister, Shelagh Garren of Vancouver. He is survived by three children: Leanne (Myles) Gariepy of Airdrie, Phillip Johnson (Jill) of Calgary, and Donna Regier (Cory) of Saskatoon as well as their families. Funeral Service will be held in Saskatoon on Nov. 9.

Verna McAskey from Stockholm was a visitor to coffee row Tuesday morning bringing us some freshly made cake donuts. They were much enjoyed by everyone. Thanks, Verna, for sharing with us.

A good portion of the town's population received their winter flu shot at the clinic held on Wednesday at the Hut. The nurses were great as usual. The patients enjoyed a short visit with each other as they waited a few minutes after their needles before they were allowed to leave.

As we send the news in this week, we are awaiting Hallowe'en and the ghosts and goblins that will be knocking at our door tomorrow night. Here's to a warm fall evening and lots of fun!
