Congratulations to Liz (Groseth) & Kevin Roche of Regina on the arrival of their second daughter, Jordyn Kathleen Roche, born Oct. 3. Congrats also to big sister, Ella, excited Great-Grandma Iris Groseth of Estevan and proud Grandpa Rod Groseth (June Haas) of Dubuc.

About 40 family members, old friends and former neighbours gathered for a memorial service on Sat., Oct. 9 to give thanks for the life of Fredrick W. Furber. The service was held at the Dubuc Village Cemetery led by Rev. Mee of the United Church. Fred was born Dec 18, 1947. He took his schooling in Dubuc and at Larson School. Fred worked as a farmhand for a few years before moving out to British Columbia where he spent all of his adult life. He passed away July 28 at Quesnel. He is lovingly remembered by his wife, Deniece (Slater) and her boys, Dan and Raymond. He is survived by his sisters: Florence (Pat), Doreen (Willie), Joan; brothers: George, John, James (Donna); and many nieces and nephews. Fred was predeceased by his parents, Constance and Ted; sister, Judy; and brothers, Sydney and Bert.
Many from the Dubuc area attended the funeral service held at the chapel of Christie's Funeral Home in Yorkton for Lillian (Wickberg) Clauson on Oct. 9. After the service, the congregation joined Lillian's family for lunch and a time of fellowship and remembrance. Cremation committal near her husband, David, followed at Spruce Home Cemetery Â鶹´«Ã½AV of Stockholm.
The monthly community potluck supper happened on the second Wed. of Oct. just like it does every month. There was a wonderful turnout to enjoy the Turkey, trimmings and all the other delicious dishes on the Thanksgiving supper table. Melba McAlpine won the 50/50 draw which was a little richer because of the good crowd in attendance. Nina Moller won the door prize - a pie donated by Mary Nagy... yummy!
Word has been received that Calvin Roy Ahosaari passed away in Calgary, AB on Sept. 23 at the age of 63. He is survived and loved dearly by his daughter, Kristina Sarafincian (Michael) and her children, Judah and Lily. A graveside service was held at the old cemetery in the New Finland Colony located North of Wapella followed by a luncheon at the St. John's New Finland Lutheran Church. Many may remember that Calvin operated the Dubuc Café for a while back about 1984. He was an excellent cook and could fill requested orders very quickly. He did a brisk business during his short stay here. Sympathy is extended to Calvin`s family and friends from Dubuc and community.
The community extends sympathy to Gayla and John Hedstrom on the passing of her dad, Gordon Nelson, formerly of Stockholm, at the age of 89 at the Centennial Care Home in Esterhazy. Condolences also to his wife, Pearl, and the extended Nelson family. Many local folks attended the funeral service held at the New Stockholm Lutheran Church on Thurs., Oct 11. We all send get well wishes to Pearl Nelson, as well. We hope you are getting around much better by the time you're reading this.
