Pearl and Paul Flaman were back in Saskatchewan from their home in Texas for most of July. They have visited with many family members and friends while camping at Waskisiu Provincial Park near Prince Albert and at Yorkton. They had a morning coffee with Jim and Vivian Talbot before visiting with Susan and Leon Powell and later golfing at Last Oak with Jim and Jean Kulcsar of Yorkton who were staying at their cabin at Crooked Lake. Flamans will be returning to the area again in a couple weeks and hope to spend a couple nights camping in Dubuc renewing friendships and doing more visiting then.
DRA fundraiser
There is finally a total for the hi-way cleanup/bottle drive fundraiser held by the Dubuc Recreation Association to raise funds to continue the operation of our community hall. Dept of Highways pays $65 a kilometer to community organizations that clean the ditches of the highways and we received $910 for picking from Dubuc to Stockholm (14 km). All the recyclables picked from the ditches and the generous donations of bottles and cans resulted in $1124 being raised. Cash donations from individuals, The BS Bar, Yorkton Co-op and Cornerstone Credit Union were received in lieu of cans and bottles for another total of $568 resulting in a Grand Total of Two Thousand Six Hundred and Two Dollars ($2602) being added to the coffers to help keep our hall open. The fundraiser was a huge success as $800 more was raised this year compared to 2012 totals. This was a total community effort involving young and old alike and a big bouquet goes out to all those that contributed in any way, shape or form to this success.
Leona and Joe Kaczur holidayed at Clear Lake for 10 days. They visited with daughter, Lynn and Stan Bialas, of Onanole, MB, took in the Clear Lake Flea Markets on the weekends and attended a car show in Brandon in between the rest and relaxation. Candace (Kaczur) and Dan Oremba and family of Regina were also camping at Clear Lake for a few days with her parents.
Sympathy from Dubuc and Community go out to Frank and Colleen Maga on the passing of his Mother, Alice Maga, of Esterhazy. Condolences are also extended to grandchildren, Natalie (Maga) and Ron Read of Richmond, BC and Scott Maga from Campbell River, BC who made a quick trip to attend her funeral services in Esterhazy. Natalie, Ron and Scott were able to stay with their maternal grandparents, Earle and Nina Moller, for a couple nights while here.
Visitors at coffee row on Tuesday morning were Darlene and Stuart Stevenson of Stockholm and her brother, Clive and Ophelia England, from Creston, BC. It is always so much fun to have visitors at coffee row and Tuesday was no exception as much conversation and laughter filled the air.
Enid Edwards from Vancouver, BC is currently holidaying at her home away from home here in the village. She is always busy doing some yardwork and visits with her family and friends in the area.
