The monthly community birthday party was held at the hut on April 27. Best wishes go out to the only birthday celebrant present, Earle Moller. Earle celebrates his actual birthday on April 29. Everyone enjoyed the visiting and lovely lunch. Earle had been saving his pennies to buy coffee at Saturday morning coffee row but along came the last (we hope) fury of winter Friday night so coffee row had to be cancelled!! Imagine how awful the weather must have been to cancel free coffee!! Word has been received that he will be buying on Tuesday, May 10 instead.
It took most of the weekend to conquer the banks of snow that the Friday night storm left in it's path vehicles were completely covered over in snow banks; a few big trees were blown right over and pulled out by the roots, many branches were broken off; several persons could not get out of their homes as the snow was blown into a bank against their door and it would not open; some homes were without power; travelers and visitors were stranded; employees could not get to or from work - even the only business in town, the hotel, was closed; now every ditch, low spot and many basements are full of water. The clean-up continues as we write this. Winter came with a bang and it, hopefully, has now gone with quite a bang, also!
Ted Ellwood treated to coffee and Margaret's fresh home-baked goodies on Tuesday, May 3 for his birthday May 2. There was a sizable crowd of 17 present to wish him a very happy birthday and many more.
News is a bit scarce lately so if you have any for us, please pass it along.
